On 8th September 2025, the Millennium Forum came alive with energy, music, and stories as the She’s Some Woman – Her Story, Her City celebration event took place. Hosted by the Gasyard Development Trust as part of the Developing Women in the Community Programme (Phase Three), the free one-day gathering brought together women from across Derry for a vibrant and empowering day.

A Day of Inspiration

The event featured guest speaker panels with local leaders, health professionals, and changemakers, who shared their insights on wellbeing, resilience, and the power of community. Attendees were treated to the powerful theatre production She’s Some Woman – Her Story, Her City, which highlighted the stories of women who have shaped the city’s past and continue to influence its future.

Creativity and Connection

Throughout the day, the audience enjoyed live music, drumming, Makaton and dance performances, alongside opportunities to take part in interactive activities. A wide range of wellbeing, health and community stalls offered resources and connections, while complimentary refreshments and a light lunch provided space for people to meet, chat, and reflect.

The event created a warm, inclusive space where women could connect, celebrate their stories, and look ahead with confidence. From inspiring talks to creative showcases, She’s Some Woman captured the strength, resilience, and creativity of Derry’s women — past, present, and future.
